It is 100% worth it.
One of my favorite hikes in the whole park, absolutely stunning! Keep your eyes out for wildlife, everywhere. There is a lot of heights exposure, not as bad as Highline, but still more than a lot of people on the trail were comfortable with. The end is so worth it!
The best hike I've ever been on in a US national park - and I don't say that likely. It will take a half to a full day depending on your pace but it is all worth twice over. You will need to use the bathroom before you leave and you will need ALOT of water (Two LARGE 40oz Hydroflasks at least). We ran out of water at the top and we started hallucinating a bit at the bottom (note that the water fountain is on the gift shop level in the Many Glacier Hotel). The trail is not switchbacks all the way up but it is a more difficult trail. If you do not take the ferry across the lower lakes (saves you 3 miles) then the length is ~12 miles.
Cannot say enough!!! Simply awesome hike!!! Must do if you are in glacier np. The panoramic views of the towering mountains, the wild flowers and the rolling Meadows - amazing. There is a high chance that your will spot wild life as well.
If you go to glacier national park this is a must do if you are in good health. Nice bike and awesome views all along the trail. Take it easy, slow down and enjoy the natural show.
If you start early and are a moderately good hiker then I recommend taking the trail all the way up to Grinnell Glacier and Upper Grinnell Lake. Views are spectacular and my group ran into lots of wildlife along the way. Either direction you decide to take, I think it will have great views of the turquoise colored lake.
This hike does get very busy, so go early early early. I was camping at the Many Glacier campground so I just walked over instead of driving and trying to get a spot.
